Synopsis of Polly and Zephyr
The robot vacuum refuses her commands. The smart toaster deliberately burns her toast. After an unauthorized spree, the voice-activated shopping system locks her out. Polly, a highly intelligent green parrot, is stuck in the house all day. She longs for adventure, but what she needs is a friend.
An experimental brain-chip disappears from the car factory. Zephyr, a self-driving car rolling off the line, turns out to be the accidental recipient. Built to serve, but desperate for independence, Zephyr zooms into Polly’s driveway and into her life.
Can a car with a heart of silicon form a true friendship with a living, breathing bird? Zephyr believes so, but does Polly?
Zephyr schemes a way to keep Polly safe from the neighborhood cat, rescues her after a birdnapping, and introduces her to the delicious world of french fries. But even after all their adventures, Polly still sees Zephyr as only a machine. Polly attempts to befriend a flock of zoo parrots--but they reject her for being too different!
Polly is distraught when a reckless garbage truck slams into Zephyr, crushing the car in a shower of discarded orange peels and overcooked spaghetti. Watching the final electrons flow through Zephyr’s circuits, she finally realizes what Zephyr means to her. With Zephyr headed for the junkyard, Polly realizes it’s up to her to try and save her best friend.
